The Rise of the Great Pumpkin

The sap is running.

Snip, Snap, Snurr.

Eric has three cows at once.

Eric endorses Plunge.

"I like using my teeth to chomp fishies."

"See!"

"Look, Mommy, you've got a pair of Jacks!"

Kristian knows what a camera does.

Cont'd from Previous Post

More Secret Pal gifts:

Very sunny this summer!
Line formed by wearing my BLACK (with gold trim) ISRAELI/PALESTINIAN hat, which may or may not be stupid.

Maybe I should go back to wearing a bandana!
The faint line around my neck is from my first Camp G secret pal gift,
a choker made by Samantha C. in 2003.
(I knew her from Dorion Bible Camp Labour Day Family Camps
which she used to attend back in their heyday
with her mother and sister.)

I would not have had such a bad sandal tan had I not been harassed by the fashion police about my socks.

More Camp Gitchigomee pix

My complete collection of attendance logs (one per week/event)
to date (both sides).

One nice thing about a small camp (25-30 campers per week) is that it is not that hard to run a "Secret Pal" program for everyone. I received some pretty nice gifts this year. (I may not have them all grouped exactly by week.)

Robin, the crafts teacher, made this hat for my SP to give me.

Hmm, I thought I'd uploaded more pix. I'll have to go find them.

Goodbye Ruth Forever Again Party: July 30/06

Kristian actually manages to catch some air in his doorway jumper, but I couldn't quite time my shots properly.

Camp G. Junior Week

The first week of Camp Gitchigomee (Junior: 7-9 year olds) I was the counsellor (I prefer "cabin leader", but that's a long discussion) in the boys cabin.

Without looking it up, I think it was c. 1987 that I was last "in a cabin" at Dorion Bible Camp. Summer 2004 I was in Cabin 14 (Intermediate age) at Manitoba Pioneer Camp, but I was actually a third staff member on special assignment.

So, this was a good reminder for me of camp life on the frontline and how hard it is --(I'll be the first to admit that Junior is not my best age for that role.)-- even the personal stress one can feel about cabin clean-up, fearing that it will be my bed declared sandy, because I was busy getting the campers to do their own.

So (again) I apologize to cabin staff over the years to whom I may have seemed (or indeed been) unappreciative of your volunteer time.
