Round Lake Bible Camp

.

Round Lake Bible Camp was in a pinch for a cabin leader for the first three days of Junior boys (end of July, start of Aug.), so I helped out. Thank you, RLBC for welcoming me.

I brought my toys...

...and Gitchigomee's Speed Stack cups.

Mark was actually steering.

I was a crafts helper.

If my tank isn't painted perfectly, it's because campers kept asking me for help. Imagine that!!

DYU Feb. Retreat on YouTube

I could embed it here, but instead -- if you want to see how I spent the first weekend in February out at Round Lake Bible Camp -- click here. It's just about 7 minutes long.

Interestingly enough I came home today to two phone messages: one from Round Lake wondering if I could play guitar for a retreat this weekend (but I'm already playing for St. Thomas' "Parish Mission") and another from Dean Schaaf of the Dorion Bible Fellowship (not the Camp, but his kids go) asking me to participate in their 30 Hour Musicathon, raising funds for their building. I think I should perform "Zargons Invade Dorion Bible Camp", the unplugged version.

LUCF Retreat Jan. 26 - 28/07

.

I just went out for the day to see how things were going and to visit with the guest speaker, Thaddeus, Senior Director of Program (formerly Boys Camp Director) at Manitoba Pioneer Camp

While there I taught the girls to sing the Blues.

As well, I performed my song, "Anglo Saxon", as part of their coffeehouse. Then I proceeded to try to drive home down the wrong road. I got stuck in the snow and was pushed out by a dozen or so LUCFers who insisted on posing for a picture with my car.

Held at Round Lake Bible Camp.

So-called "life-sized" Jenga.

The "Tim Tam Slam"
Apparently of Australian origin, this feat involves making a straw out of a Tim Tam cookie by biting off diagonal corners, sucking coffee into it and swallowing it quickly once it becomes mushy. This was at supper on Jan. 27 at the Suttons' with LUCF students Kara and Kevin.

Now, why didn't I think of this?
(People kept calling it "life-size" Jenga, which I found amusing.)

I've added a correction below re. my Mum's TV show in the 60's. Apparently, she got the gig because she submitted a recipe they liked and they wanted her to demonstrate it. This led to more appearances and THAT led to her gas stove demonstrating job. (I don't think we ever had a gas stove during that time.)
