Summer 2025 Gigs

.

During July/Aug. 2025 most of my usual music gigs (Senior Homes, PJP2 School Choir, Open Mics) have been on hold, pre-empted by my summer music activities:

I led campfire, chapel, and after-meal singing for 3 weeks of kids camp at Camp Gitchigomee.

Aug. 14, 15 I was in The Muppet Script at Magnus Theatre, curated by Amy Sellors and Ryleigh Dupuis. My main role was Waldorf, meaning I had a solo during the Opening Theme ("Why do we always come here?"). I also played harmonica in the campfire scene, while Gonzo (Daniel Hannah) sang I'm Going to Go Back There Someday.

From Aug. 3 to 11 I was at Manitoba Pioneer "Classic Boys" Camp, leading songs in the evening, and mid-afternoon. I also led after-lunch "singing" twice ( Little Cabin in the Woods, and The Juicy Moose). One day we were all lined up for lunch, but there was a delay & so I spontaneously led Folsom Prison Blues, Ring of Fire, All-Star, and Smells Like Teen Spirit (!!!), followed by Praise the Father (everyone crowded in the washroom).

At the Folk Fest Banquet I was in fact on the bill, opening the whole meal/concert with Amazing Grace (to the tune of the House of the Rising Son), followed by If I Had a Hammer/Three Little Birds.

I represented a sort of elder statesman of folk, and so when The Brewsters played "loudly" like a rock band, I attempted to unplug them, and was hauled off by security. No axes were involved (except guitars).

Aug. 16, 17 I was back out at Camp Gitchigomee for Gathering Table's Family Camp. I led the music for the Sunday morning Communion, choosing songs from the camp songbook.
