My 2012 According to Facebook

.

Click here to see what Facebook chose as being the most important events in my life in 2012. Remember: this was not done by me, but by some algorithm.

I don't actually know what an algorithm is; it just sounds impressive.

I think you have to be logged into Facebook to see this, though you don't have to be my friend.

So here are screenshots for those not on Facebook. Click on the first thumbnail. Thereafter clicking each large pic should advance you to the next.

Harbron Hullabaloo: Dec. 30/12

.

I usually spend Sunday evenings at Cambrian Players' Improv Club, but Sun. Dec. 30 was the date for the annual Harbron Hullabaloo. This is a gathering where various members of Rising Son/Hardcore/Emmanuel come together, notably those, such as Robin's sister, Erin, and her family, who no longer live in Thunder Bay.

Board Game Night: Dec. 29/12

.

Bright Lights Big City: Dec. 29:

I think these are both from the same night, sent by Shroom in 2024 when he told us Ken had died.

.

"Revolver" Cover Album: Dec. 28/12

.

A Facebook Group (founded by Darren Foulds) put this together following (or not) rough guidelines of solo performances, one take only, no overdubs of the songs from the UK version of The Beatles' 1966 "Revolver".

My contributions are "Taxman", "Love You To", "Got to Get You Into My Life" and "Tomorrow Never Knows", and I recorded/edited "Jim 'n' I"'s version "I Want to Tell You". I especially had fun with "Tomorrow...", in which I broke the rules. That seemed appropriate, since the original was kind of a rule-breaking song itself.

Lamb with the Fam: Dec. 25/12

.

...with my Mum, that is. After the meal, I made the marshmallow salad for the next day's gathering with the rest of the (Thunder Bay) fam.

A Christmas Song I Wrote Many Years Ago: Dec. 24/12

.

I wrote the words when I was in Gr. 7 and the music at some point before 2000. I've sung it from time to time at special events and as part of my carolling in Senior Homes. So now I thought I'd just put it out there.

Carolling: Dec. 22/12

.

This was the 4th Annual Evening-of-Carolling-with-the-Palmquists-for-the-Food-Bank (my 3rd time). My connection is through fellow-Cambrian-actor, Will Perry, a friend of the Palmquists since high school.

Rock Monty & the Steady Mule: Dec. 21/12

.

Rock Steady aka Monty and the Mule played their mix of Reggae, Roots Rock, Funk Soul, Blues at The Office/Crock's. I sat near the front so that I could watch Clay & Gord play.

December 21, 2012

.

Due to a misunderstanding of an ancient Mayan stone calendar, there was the rumour that the world (as we know it) would end on Dec. 21, 2012. I decided to chronicle our passing safely into that date ... but got a bit lazy about it.

Movies R Danger 'Us - Dec. 14/12

.

The second picture is how they appeared Dec. 21.

After staying to read all the credits at the end of "The Hobbit", for some reason I fell down the stairs, rolled over and barked my shins.

Fortunately, I was alone (except for the staff) and so I wasn't a bowling ball in the crowd. The staff were very attentive to my needs, and even gave me 2 free passes.

I did not do this on purpose.

In fact, the service at Silver City was very good that evening. I'd never ordered tickets on-line before & it wasn't 'til I was at the theatre that I found out I had neglected to print page two, the page with the actual bar codes I needed. So they just wrote out my ticket for me.

. And it turned out that I didn't need the 2nd ticket. They refunded it for me, and they didn't even ask me for the penny change.

Brian's Birthday with the Boys: Dec. 7/12

.

Snacks at ChiJoe's followed a sauna gathering at Kangas.

Two of the three Guinness cans in front of me belonged to Shroom. However, this was the first time ever at a RIDE check that I had to answer Yes I had consumed alcohol. They did not make me blow, however.

CPR Holiday Train: Dec. 4/12

.

Shroom, Brian Jones & I (plus a crowd of others) caught the annual half-hour CPR Holiday Train outdoor concert at the Syndicate Ave. train station. Then we three (not the crowd) went to McDonald's. While there we encountered Bike Santa.
