Radio-a-Thon: Mar. 27/10

.

LU student, Sara Mackie, put me in touch with LU Radio about being a guest on their Radio-a-thon. I sang Caffeine, Nobody Talks, Don't Be Afraid and Time Tears Us Apart. Ruth again graciously agreed to accompany me (on a Saturday morning after joining us at late-night Friday hockey [scoring at least once]). I feel kind of bad because it was just for one hymn and one verse of another ("In the Garden" and "Wonderful Words of Life"). I also neglected to say thank you on air.

Gloria, the host, went a little crazy with my camera, and I've not included all the photos she took.

See previous post for intro of Ruth.

This was taken before I got my bifocals.

A sidenote to this evening: Ruth was already considering joining our Friday Night Hockey icetime that night, but (besides whatever other factors were on her mind), there would be the awkwardness of being the only woman there.

When I arrived at Chapter's for this mtg, I ran into Shannon, who had often voiced her intention to join us, but hadn't done so yet. I urged her to come that night as that way it would be easier for both of them.

It also made it easier for Bevans who picks the teams, since that way he could simply assign one woman per team and assume that they were roughly equal in skill. They both played well (as I knew they would), Ruth on an injured ankle! In the following weeks the guys would ask when they were coming back.

Someday soon, I hope.

It was also fun to travel to the rink and back in Ruth's big black truck, rather than my usual little black car.

My Birthday

.

A couple of nights beforehand I went out with "the boys" to Chicago Joe's for wings etc. My party with my family was shared (as usual) with my niece at my Mum's after church the previous Sunday. I think she has pictures.

At Small Group at Ulrichs' they presented me with a cake. Kristian came over and blew out the one candle remaining. Thanks, buddy.

Rick Faulconer's 40th: Mar. 21/10

.

Rick had a big drop-in style birthday party at the Castlegreen Community Centre. Tim and his girls and I dropped in (and then out) during the afternoon to wish Rick a happy Big Four Oh (a few days early).

Pictured above is the jam session in which Rick played bass along with his bluegrass buddies.

Afterwards, I shared a moment with the Good Lovelies, as seen above.

See earlier post for explanation, since my introduction of Ruth got cut off.
