Before Aug. 31 please listen to my entry in the Hockey Anthem theme contest. I could win $100,000.00. Positive comments and high rating would be appreciated.

Listen and comment and rate (if possible) even if it's already past Aug. 31. I may have misunderstood the rules.

You can listen below, but to comment and rate you'll have to click here.

Thank you.

Solo Camping @ Sleeping Giant Park: Aug. 10 - 11/08

.

On a whim, once I'd returned from my two weeks at Manitoba Pioneer Camp, I went camping. I wanted a site where I could feel alone and so Meghan DeRoover, who served me, suggested a remote site on the other side of the lake. I spent the evening setting up my tent, starting a fire and roasting hot dogs. I spent the next morning starting a fire, taking a brief Morning Dip, slowly-cooking pancakes on my Coleman Stove, cooking canned stew in the fire and roasting more hot dogs. A deer came to visit and then it was pretty much time to leave. It was warm and sunny the whole time (except at night).

Visit with Baileys at Baileys' : Kenora Aug. 8 - 9

This is Baileys' where the Baileys now live.

Here are some of the Baileys (Erica reeling in Eric).

I stayed over Friday night. We had a couple of good chats, but they had to leave Saturday before lunch to get to Erica's great-aunt's funeral in Regina. Greg BBQed me some burgers for lunch and then I headed home.

Day Twelve: Fri. Aug. 8/08

All the Intermediate cabins were gone on trip by this point and so this was a slack day.

Sassy had another sauna for his guys since they were now the only campers on the island. I joined in the first two rounds, but missed out on the third and hottest round in which the participants spilled out from the tent as fast as they could.

Day Eight: Mon. Aug. 4/08

Manitoba Pioneer Camp "Classic Boys One". I was co-Section Head for the 5 Intermediate (age 10 - 12) cabins along with Klik.

I don't have any pix specifically from this day and so here I'll feature those from the Prince Caspian skits (and Table Talks) that followed each breakfast. However, this was "Backwards Day" (or "Arbitrarily Mixed-Up Day") and so Breakfast was the last meal of the day. (Starting the day with Sloppy Joes was an interesting experience.)

A visit from Mondoux Surprise!!

The afternoon's activity was a competition between the cabins to brew the perfect cup of coffee. My job was to man to Giant Jenga Station. ("Money" for their supplies was earned in a rotation of competitions.) I was also one of the five judges of the final results.
