An Apostrophe Does Not Mean "es": Aug. 26/15

Sigh.

The word they wanted was "businesses". I suppose they believed that an apostrophe makes an "es" sound & they could thus use it for the plural. However, apostrophes are not to be used for plurals (even for adding apostrophe s). The exceptions are for single characters so that "a's" means "more than one 'a'", and "as" is the word "as". So sometimes this is extended to abbreviations such as "CD" or numbers. However, I prefer "CDs" and "12s" just push back against the use of apostrophes for pluralization.

Cambrian Players does not normally stage plays during the summer, but circumstances led us to choose to have our first play in our new home (the Finlandia Hall) during August. I didn't have much hands-on involvement with the play, as I was busy at Camp Gitchigomee. However, I did take a few photos of our move-in day, July 26. This was our first time ever moving a set into this venue, and so some experimenting was necessary.

Manitoba Pioneer Camp 2015

I was at Manitoba Pioneer Camp for Boys 2 (Aug. 3 - 14) again this year, mainly to lead some of the singing, but also to help in other ways (including fishing & canoeing with campers, and plunging toilets).
